Understanding and harnessing biological catalysis

Our research to understand the nature and mechanism of biological catalysis has wide reaching applications and impact.

By better understanding the nature enzyme function, we can better design inhibitors of that enzyme for use a chemical biology probe or potentially as a new therapeutic drug.

In addition enzymes or biocatalysts, are used in a variety of industrial and environmental applications and processes.

Our research ranges from structural and mechanistic understanding of biological catalysts through to the discovery, engineering and optimisation of enzymes.
