Medicine and health

People are living longer which naturally increases the need for complex healthcare. Additionally, with nearly half the world’s population living on less than $5.50 a day, the need for affordable medicine and healthcare has never been greater. Biotechnology has key applications in medical processes and drug development that contribute to bringing down the cost of healthcare.

We use our advanced technologies and data-gathering abilities to engineer molecules and cells that allow us to understand the fundamentals of disease processes. This helps us to develop better, safer, and more economically scalable medicines. We look at molecules and networks at a systems level by imaging and spatially mapping cell responses in both health and disease, and in response to drug challenges.

However, to be able to treat disease effectively, you first must be able to accurately diagnose it. We look closely at disease structures and their interactions within complex systems to develop next-generation diagnostic tools to increase screening and testing capacity and accuracy.
